The Many Faces of Bad Drivers

4 min readMay 12, 2025

In this article I want to describe many types of bad drivers. Of course, this is not comprehensive, and I have videos on my YouTube channel.
In my opinion one of the worse type of drivers are those that cut you off. You have barely any room in front of you but behind you there is not one car, but they try to force their way in, nearly causing a collision. They may cut you off because of poor planning. An upcoming exit is approaching, and they cut you off to get to the exit or they are merging and instead of getting behind you they want to force you out of the way to cut you off. I had a dumbass pull next to me while he was merging and then get behind me and honk his horn. He then disappeared in my review mirror. He had plenty of time to merge and there were no cars in front of behind me.
Semi side drivers and side drivers in general. Now I am not talking about heavy traffic, and they have no choice. I am talking about medium to light traffic. I once was behind a woman, and we were both next to a semi at a red light. Now you guys know how long semis take to pick up speed. Well, this woman never passed the semi and stayed the same speed, even at the light. If you had to switch lanes to make an exit, you had no choice but turning into a side business and wait until they all pass or the left light and cross that way. You would not be able to go slow enough to get behind the semi since it was moving so slow. Speed limit was 45 and they both were going about 17. These side drivers make it difficult to switch lanes and I have seen people drive fast and then slow way down to pace another slow driver to hinder traffic. This is another problem with side drivers. It can be very difficult to get around them and they are usually very slow. Funny how slow drivers back up traffic, run red lights and stop signs but some people think they are safe drivers.
The yellow light stoppers are another one. Now I am not talking about stopping because the light will immediately turn red. I am talking about they are basically at the intersection, and they immediately stop. Luckily, I do not tailgate so I can stop in time but not the freaks behind me. Sometimes you get the blinking yellow lights, and these people actually stop when they are just supposed to slow down and be cautious. It’s the same when you are on a busy highway and a school bus stops on the other side and the cars in front of you stop even though there is way more than a 6-foot divider between you and the other lanes of traffic.
This one isn’t drivers but pedestrian and cyclist. Luckily, I always ask myself, “What is the dumbest thing this person can do,” when I am driving. A lot of times other drivers, cyclist and pedestrians will do it. I have had pedestrians and cyclist dart in front of me, but I am usually slowing down just in case of such an event. Pedestrians will run across the street without looking to get to the bus, so when you are nearing a city bus stop, please slow down for idiots.
Some people just cannot stay in their own lane and others change lanes very slowly. You see people that are distracted and just can’t control their vehicle swerving in and out of their lanes. You will also, see people hold up 2 lanes as they take 30 seconds and even longer to change lanes. You also get the fools that merge at the last second, cutting people off and nearly causing accidents.
Another one you deal with are the people that panic. They hit the brakes any time someone changes lanes, even if it is far in front of them. They slam the breaks at the green light and do all sorts of weird things. They slow down at a yellow light and then speed up once it turns red causing the people behind them to get stuck.
The slow green arrow drivers are vexing. It’s the same when the light turns green. As the light or arrow turns green you see one car move and after it crosses the intersection, the next car until you get a red arrow. Do they realize that you do not go 1 at a time?
Train stalkers are another irksome problem. They go slow when they see a train so they can wait and cause others to wait 45 minutes until that train clears. They hog the road so no one can beat that train to the next intersection. Trains move around here at a bout 7 miles an hour and are 3–5 miles long so there is no excuse for not being able to beat the train to the next intersection. They also cross train tracks very slowly. If they love waiting so much than they can do it on their own time. I really thinking how your behavior affects others and thinking of others is not a human trait.
Slow drivers in general. They increase road rage and accidents as people try to pass them. They insist on being in all lanes. They run red lights and stop signs. They are the cause of almost all traffic issues. Speeders cause problems because of how oblivious they are to other drivers, but slow drivers can cause people to speed if they are lucky enough to finally get around them.
