Pros and Cons of Being a YouTuber

Everyone dreams of making money. Few people dream of working every day for an ungrateful boss at an ungrateful company, so they turn to alternatives. One such alternative is YouTube. If you are not, be you should be able to grow your channel with enough followers to get paid. I will give you some pros and cons of being a youtuber. Please stop by my channel and subscribe. You can also follow me on Twitch (ferrariking1955).

First let us start with the pros:

It is fun. Making gaming or any type of videos for YouTube is fun. You can do it anytime you want, and you have no boss.

You can make money. You need 4000 watch hours, 10,000 views and 1000 subscribers to make money. I have all that except the followers. I have been doing the YouTube thing for a little over 5 years. Most people reach all that I mentioned in less than 2 years. I have seen channels worse than mine reach that goal. You will have no trouble. No matter your content if you are not me.

You can have fun with trolls. I made an entire article about trolls and how to have fun with them but to recap, you can make sarcastic comments or just block them. They are useless people that are there for your entertainment and they also draw more people to your channel. Remember that the more people react to your video, weather it is with a thumbs up or down or leaving a comment they are helping your video get seen. Who cares if they leave a thumbs down and a negative comment? People are more likely to interact with that negative comment, getting you even more views and watch-time.

Now it is time for the cons:

YouTube is bad at flagging channels and videos for no reason. I have had videos taken down for sexual content although they are videos from the game, Dead Rising. Unless rotting zombies are sexy and sexual, YouTube has some issues. I have had them restrict some of my videos, claiming they are mature content, although the gaming video is just Yakuza or even games rated E for everyone. I have had copyright claims even though no music was playing. You can do a video where you talk in front of a camera and get it flagged for sexual content, mature content, or copyright claim. AI is dumb and a woman even made a video on how easy it is to fool even the most advanced AI. One example she had a melon on the table and the AI correctly identified it. Next, she put that same melon on the table, but she includes the words car battery, and the AI identified the melon as a car battery. OK, she used different examples, but you get it. She then wrote the number 3 but extended the middle bar and the AI identified the number as an 8. That is what YouTube is using to judge your videos.

Small YouTubers will be punished for the mistakes of the larger YouTubers. Remember when a larger YouTube a guy that did that thing is a forest in Japan? YouTube then changed the rules that you need 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours and now I make no money. This has made it more difficult for smaller channels but that You Tubers and others like him got nothing but a mild reprimand.

I still recommend being a YouTuber and a Twitch streamer (you need 50 followers to get paid). If you are not me, you will get paid and see your channel grow. I am sure YouTube will fix their issues and we will have fewer problems. Please read articles from other writers on this site and as well as me.
